Giants start last home stand in Edmonton with a BANG!!

The Fort McMurray Giants got their last home stand in their home away from home off to a great start. Winning to straight games from the Edmonton Prospects to improve their recored to 7-13, and move only 2.5 games back of those Prospects for 4th place in the Western conference.

Thursday night say a close score 4-3, with Nick Kafer getting the win going 5.2 innings , and Copper Krug coming on in the 9th to get the save. Things did get interesting in the 9th however. After Krug retired the first two batters he faced, he hit the next two and walked one to load the bases, but got the next hitter to ground out and complete the win, and the save.

Friday night brought a lot of offence from both teams. The Giants managed to out slug the prospects winning 12-8. Every starting position player in the Giants lineup had at least one hit for a total of 14 hits on the night, 7 of those hit were for extra bases.

In the 3rd inning the Giants hit 4 doubles in a row, all coming with 2 outs. Echavia, got it started followed by Graham, Braun, and Krug. both Echavia, and Braun would also triple later in the game. Braun would also add 2 more RBIs to bring his total to 12 one the season which leads the Giants in that category

Issac Mullins  was credited with the win, going 4.2 innings striking out 4 and giving up 4 earned runs. Echavia got the save after pitching 2 innings of scoreless relief

The Giants had a off day on saturday, before returning  to the field to play their final two games in Edmonton on sunday and monday VS the Okotoks Dawgs.

When Okotoks leaves town so will the Giants, they will make their first ever trip up highway 63, to finally get to play at their home stadium Shellplace on Wednesday vs the Regina Red Sox.
