In In the News by HPBC

The Fort McMurray Giants have officially brought WMBL baseball to shell place. The Giants played their first home game Wednesday night. Beating the Regina Red Sox 6-4 in a thrilling game in front of a great hometown crowd.

The game featured a solid start from starter Adam Kimmel, a couple double plays including a strange one to end the game in the 9th, and a strong night at the plate for the entire Giants team collecting 13 hits.

But the local boys stole the show, with Ryan Dunn coming out of the bullpen to go 2.1 innings to get his first WMBL win, Matt McPherson scoring a run to tie the game, and Josh Iannetti coming in and catching the 9th.

It was a night these Giants players will never forget.

Giants are back in action at Shellplace Thursday night vs Regina at 7:35pm. Then again for a double header on Canada Day vs Melville. Both of these games are Local hero free for all first responders with valid ID. Tickets will be sold at the Shellplace box office.
